Former world number one Maria Sharapova has stirred the loins of Polish teenagers by announcing she will compete in next week’s Warsaw Open, her first competitive singles outing for nearly ten months.

Former world number one Maria Sharapova has stirred the loins of Polish teenagers by announcing she will compete in next week’s Warsaw Open, her first competitive singles outing for nearly ten months.

The triple Grand Slam winner spent seventeen weeks ranked top spot, but has since sunk to number 65 following an injury plagued year.

‘I’m very happy to report I will make my singles return to the Tour in Warsaw,’ Sharapova stated.
