Thousands of Poles leave UK

It looks as if the magnetic appeal Britain once had for Poles in search of if not a better life then a better wage, is waning fast as recession take its toll.

Research from the UK has found that more and more Poles are leaving the country. Figures from the International Passenger Survey, which monitors people leaving and entering the UK, found that last year till September 56,000 Central Europeans left the country compared to only 25,000 the year before.

In addition only 23,000 signed up for Britain’s Worker Registration Scheme in the first three months of 2009, a figure less than half of last year’s.
