Prisoners asking for compensation

An increasing number of Poles are beginning to demand compensation for inhumane conditions and overcrowding in jails.
According to Gazeta Prawna, most plaintiffs are demanding over PLN 100,000, with some asking for more than PLN 1,000,000.
The report comes amid statements from justice officials that promise an end to overcrowding in jails by December 2009, when new laws will limit one prisoner to every three square metres. ...
