Visitor numbers to Poland continue to decline, according to statistics from the Institute of Tourism.


Foreign visitor numbers were down 12% y-o-y at 11.8 million in the first quarter of 2009, a smaller decline than Q4 2008. Poland saw a 20%+ drop year-on-year in visitors from US, Germany, Italy and Sweden. On a positive note, visitors from new EU member countries posted a 25% increase.

The Central Office of Statistics (GUS) has reported that wages are increasing despite rising unemployment. Industrial output is 10 percent lower than in April last year.
