The big story in Pomorze this week was Sunday’s referendum regarding the future of Sopot’s president, Jacek Karnowski, who, faced with numerous charges of corruption, had asked residents if they wanted him to step down. Forty percent of those residents turned out, a relatively high figure for such one-off ballots, and of those almost 62% were in favour of him staying on.
