Polish troops serving in Afghanistan have reported an upsurge in attacks, with rebels shelling their bases and targeting vehicles with roadside bombs.
One soldier was critically wounded after a bomb destroyed his American-made Cougar armoured fighting vehicle, and military sources report determined attacks as Taliban militants ratchet up their campaign against foreign forces.
