The National Security Bureau (BBN) sparked suggestions of political manoeuvrings this week following its publication of a document accusing the government of ineptitude in its dealings with the Taliban over securing the release of murdered hostage Piotr Stanczyk.

The 14-page report, which appears in this week’s Wprost, was published in response to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) document which gives an account of the government’s efforts to secure the safe release of the 42-year old engineer, who was beheaded by the Taliban in February.

But according to the BBN, there were numerous areas of the MSZ’s efforts that were poorly carried out.
