The economic crisis has eliminated those wind farm projects that were not economically feasible. That is good for the industry
The number of potential future wind farms in Poland is growing rapidly as investors rush to get permission to link into the grid before new fees kick in, according to a report from Rzeczospolita. According to the report, requests for permits required to conduct feasibility studies have risen by 20 percent since the end of 2008. The planned projects could potentially generate 60 GW of energy, which would be in addition to the 9.5 GW in projects already approved for construction.
“That would give us nearly 70 GW of wind power in total, or three times the entire country’s need for electrical power,” Stefania Kasprzyk of PSE Operator told Rzeczpospolita.
