Pressure mounts over Lisbon Treaty

To sign or not to sign? That is the question badgering President Kaczynski
Lech Kaczynski has come under more pressure over if, or when, he will put his signature to the Lisbon treaty, thus ratifying it in Poland.
The pressure came after a German constitutional court ruled on Tuesday that the treaty would be ratified in Germany when safeguards to protect the country’s parliament had been put in place.
Both houses of the Polish parliament have passed the treaty, which aims to streamline Europe’s decision making procedures, but so far the president has resisted signing it, despite great pressure from PM Tusk’s administration.
