The curse of Spring half-raised it’s ugly head yet again this week, as both Legia Warszawa and Wisla Krakow suffered mildly discouraging, but not disastrous, home results at the restart of the Europa League.

Poland’s Ekstraklasa kicks off its Spring round this weekend, despite the deeply wintry conditions. Two matches are unlikely to go ahead, surprisingly not due to snowbound pitches, but half-built stadiums.
Agnieszka Radwanska took all of 63 minutes to breeze through to the third round of the WTA tournament in Qatar, eliminating Britain’s Anne Keothavong 6-1, 6-2.
Ireneusz Jelen was the major surprise package in Smuda’s squad for the upcoming Portugal match. Hitherto, Smuda has been firm on only picking players who are in form and playing regularly for their clubs. Jelen seems to be somethng of a major exception to the rule.
Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny enjoyed a miserable evening at the San Siro this Wednesday night, as Champions League football returned.
